SCREENING OF DANCE FILMS
We bring a festival novelty! This year we will show two unique dance films in the premises of the library of the Dom Kultúry in Námestovo. From the workshop of Viliam Dočolomanský, director and choreographer of the internationally acclaimed theater group Farma v jeskyni, you will see the film “EPHEMERY”. He traveled around the world film festivals and his next stop is Námestovo. You will be one of the first to see the new film adaptation of the performance “maskiA!” by the Italian choreographer and performer Gioele Coccia, which you even had the opportunity to see live last year at our festival!
EPHEMERA
Get on. We’re not stopping. We’re in this together, but separately. Moments, when we could understand, but we missed out.
Ephemera – fleeting moments. They bloom and die. Pandemic restrictions have forced us to leave the theater and create an extraordinary experience of an auditorium divided into 18 cabins and in permanent motion. From the small space of the elevator car, you catch a glimpse of the kaleidoscope of life situations happening in parallel. 6 floors, 20 performers in motion and a theatrical ride that can’t be stopped.

MASKIA!
“maskiA!” is a dance short movie/complaint on toxic masculinity.
The performance combines physical theater with the strong expressiveness of mime, contemporary Dance and sound.
A ‘thinking’ and ‘talking’ sound which, together with two performers and the only scenic element – the table football -, constitutes a real co-protagonist of this narration.
We have imagined “maskiA” as a story-telling that, with irony and an alternation of rhythmic tensions, amazement and growing awareness, wants to rewrite the stereotyped, fixed and immutable script gender model that many males feel obliged to recite.
In an atmosphere full of false testosterone, we explored the process of building one’s social identity as a male; the right to vulnerability and the freedom to feel fragile contrasts with the clichés of the ideal qualities of the “male” condemned to always show himself strong, virile, self-confident, aggressive. So, a male condemned to never being able to simply BE HIMSELF!
For us “maskiA!” is not a point of arrival but the first ‘chapter’ of a story that marks the beginning of a multi-voiced, transdisciplinary and cross-media experimental research path, destined to evolve over time.
