The subject of the production “Playing God” was one of the most brutal murders in the modern history of Slovakia, which took place in the Námestovo church in 1960. dNO tries to reveal the portrait of an individual and a state that appropriated God’s right to decide on life and death. We present our subjective view of the connections, causes and consequences that we have discovered through diligent research. We try to form new perspectives and questions for contemporary society and point out the persistent danger of alcoholism, individualism, condemnation and mutual ignorance. We start from the idea that nothing in life is black and white and even the most seemingly unambiguous events can have multiple (hidden) meanings and interpretations. In our production, ideas and desires alternate with the eruption of facts, the tonality of existence culminates in the atonality of a nightmare. Faith is as mysterious as emptiness, good and evil condition each other – one without the other is indistinguishable and unnameable…

“Hra na Boha” won the Main Prize of the Belopotocký Mikuláš Festival, the most awards at the Scénická Žatva, represented Slovakia at the international festival in the Czech Republic and this summer will be presented at the Mondial du Théâtre theatre Olympics in Monaco – among the eighteen best productions from around the world.
