Tracing Echoes (work in progress)
GIPALI Productions
What do we carry with us when a sense of home starts to dissolve? Where does tradition end, and transformation begin?
Tracing Echoes explores how memory, cultural roots, and displacement shape our sense of identity. Moving through the space between longing and becoming, it asks: When do traditions lose their meaning? When does adaptation become disorientation? And how do we navigate the fragile process of relocation?
Set against the backdrop of rising nationalism and social polarization, Tracing Echoes reflects on nostalgia, inherited traditions, and the search for belonging, revealing the tension between honoring the past and redefining oneself in today’s Europe.

GIPALI Productions
GIPALI Productions is a collective of artists based in Copenhagen, Denmark, producing contemporary danceartworks rooted in strong physicality and storytelling. The company was established by three international female artists – Paulína Šmatláková, Giorgia Reitani, and Linn Fletcher. Tracing Echoes is created by Giorgia Reitani and Paulína Šmatláková.
Giorgia Reitani (Italy) pursued professional dance training at Iwanson International in Munich. After graduating in 2016, she danced with Tanzcompagnie Volkstheater Rostock. Now based in Copenhagen, Giorgia collaborates with companies such as Uppercut Danseteater, Holstebro Dansekompagni, BobbiLo Produktion, and Don Gnu, while developing her own choreographic work. Her creations blend contemporary dance and theatre, focusing on themes that are relatable and accessible to audiences.
Paulína Šmatláková (Slovakia) began her studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava and continued at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. Between 2017 and 2020, she was a full-time dancer with Holstebro Dansekompagni in Denmark. She later returned to the company as an assistant choreographer, rehearsal director, and tour manager. In Slovakia, she has collaborated with collective TRAKT, Radoslav Piovarči (2021), Lucia Holinová (2023), and collective TANEČNO (2022). In 2021, Paulína performed in the feature film ZENITH, choreographed by Anton Lachký. Since 2022, she has been a performer and choreography assistant with BURKICOM in Prague. She is currently working, teaching, and actively performing as a freelance dance artist across Denmark, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.
