Mothers and daughters have always shared their knowledge and experiences. This exchange takes place verbally and non-verbally, consciously and unconsciously. Knowledge and emotions flow between two bodies connected from birth. Tenderness and strength leave their imprint on movement as we experience separation, setting boundaries and acceptance.
Nothing else, Mothers looks beyond subjective memory and explores the strength and power of our emotions. It examines the transmission of emotional patterns from one generation to the next. To what extent are we influenced by our earliest relationships and inherited patterns of behaviour? And once we uncover them, can we move beyond them?
Dancer Cécile Da Costa and actress Antonie Formanová dance and perform a shared act of understanding.

PROFITART
ProFitArt is an arts production platform founded by Šárka Pavelková in 2012. It focuses on independent non-verbal and physical theatre, contemporary dance theatre, and creative education with a social dimension.
Cécile Da Costa
The artistic director of the platform is an actress, dancer, singer and educator of French-Portuguese origin. She was named Dancer of the Year 2018 at the Czech Dance Platform and nominated for the Total Physical Award at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival for Spitfire Company’s performance The Narrator. She has collaborated with Spitfire Company as a creator and performer since 2011.
Antonie Martinec Formanová
She graduated from the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at DAMU. During her studies, she participated in several original projects as an actress, puppeteer and co-creator.
In addition to the performances mentioned below, she has appeared in the television films Dukla 61 and Balada o pilotovi, in Polish director Tomasz Wiński’s film Borders of Love, and in Michal Nohejl’s award-winning debut film Occupation. Since 2023, she has been a member of the acting ensemble at Dejvice Theatre.
