Veľký nádych
Debris company
This year’s 10th anniversary edition of the TANEČNO International Festival of Dance and Movement will open with a special performance created as part of the pre-festival Rezidenčno residency programme.
The movement, music, and visual installation “A Great Breath” is inspired by the poetry collection A Great Breath: Psychopolis, Thin Ice by Slovak poet Ivan Štrpka. This unique performative work was originally created as part of the prestigious international contemporary dance festival Bratislava in Movement. The project brings together professional artistic creation and community participation, featuring both professional performers and women of different ages.
The creative process begins with a workshop in which participants connect through movement and voice, tuning into a shared rhythm while exploring their own perception and sensitivity. A key visual element of the project is the costume, created with the idea of recycling—long-forgotten, unworn garments are given a second life through upcycling and creative transformation.

Debris company
Debris Company is a contemporary physical theatre company dedicated to movement theatre, action art, and performance. It is one of the few ensembles in Slovakia focusing on non-verbal theatre, with a distinctive artistic language that blends contemporary dance, performance, visual arts, and site-specific projects.
The company is led by director and composer Jozef Vlk, while Stanislava Vlk Vlčeková serves as its choreographer. Through their work, they continually challenge conventions, uncover new artistic perspectives, and create innovative productions supported by a highly experienced creative team.
Each of their projects is built on a strong conceptual foundation—whether inspired by original texts, adaptations, or other source material. Their work belongs to the multimedia avant-garde, earning long-standing recognition and acclaim on the Slovak theatre scene.
